The song forms part of an eight-track project released on October 7, 2026, with individual tracks appearing on music websites on October 9. This addition further expands the artist's discography and offers listeners another opportunity to discover his contributions to South Africa's traditional music landscape. “EMAWENI” occupies the third position on IMMUNE SYSTEM, following “10 OVER 10” and preceding “NGIYINSIZWA.” The project also features “IMIKHONTO,” “LILIZELA,” “NGIVUMELE,” and “SENGIFIKILE,” bringing together a selection of compositions under one musical collection. The isiZulu title “EMAWENI” carries a geographical association with rocky or mountainous surroundings, although the track's specific lyrical subject has not been independently established. Beyond this latest offering, Mbeje has previously released ZINJA EZICULAYO in 2024 and LATHI ICHUNU ASOHLUPHA in 2025, demonstrating the development of his recorded catalogue over successive years. <Cite ref="turn815643search11"/>

The release contributes to the continuing visibility of indigenous music within South Africa's diverse entertainment industry.
